Students are improving their communicative language skills through a range of in class activities as well as our regular visits to historical and cultural sites around London. Last week our visit to Tate Britain provided students with an excellent opportunity to discuss their thoughts about art and sculpture, using the vocabulary they have recently learnt.

With the start of the new academic year, we are delighted to welcome our new students to Docklands Academy London, who are embarking on a journey to begin their new careers. We held a cheerful induction with our new students to introduce them to the Academy.
Students will be learning from a work-related programme of management studies that covers the various units that we will be covering this academic year.

English Language class had a field trip to Holland Park and Design museum with their teacher Paul. They had a great time exploring the park and learnig about the content of the museum.

Docklands Academy London welcomed NewVIc Newham Sixth Form College students for work experience. We had a great time watching their abilities develop during the teamwork activities, and we hope they will be able to apply the skills they learned in the future.

As winter approaches, there are a number of exciting events to witness and take part in. From the splender of Guy Fawkes Night to the dazzling lights in London, there is never a shortage of things to do this month.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night and Fireworks Night, commemorates the failed plot of the man who attempted to assassinate King James by blowing up Parliament with barrels full of gunpowder. Fortunately, the plot failed, and Guy Fawkes was executed for his crime. Nowadays, we hold the holiday to commemorate an event that occurred 400 years ago.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is the day we remember those who fought and died during World War I. It is the day we remember those who put their lives on the line to fight and protect our country. The four-year struggle ended on November 11, 1918, and on the second Sunday of November at 11 a.m, we take a minute to remember those who fought for us.
